Marketing: Did I Choose Controversy to Connect, Mistakenly?

Reaching an Audience…

As the world turns, and as we look to the future, I feel a need to call out and tell everyone that the original thrust of the book’s title was supposed to be a bit controversial. This was done to attract attention. This seems odd, but as we live in a world of Baby Doomerism, we can easily be confused by advisors. “Controversy sells”, I was told. “You need drama to steer attention your way”. This is a recommendation by marketing and advertising industry experts. I cannot say I regret listening to them. Yet, I do not think it is the better way, because it might inhibit people from getting into the depth of wisdom sought in the research and writing of the book. Marketing with dramatic controversy is a Baby Doomerism Culture result.

My soul is a poet’s. I want harmony. My book is not a book of blaming. It is a book of risks unseen; left unmitigated, which threaten the possibility of posterity knowing prosperity, and progress in peace-making and keeping that this world of our species needs.

Perhaps, I ought not to have listened to them. Alas, I am a person of these times, and these times are dramatic. Too full of hyperbole. This is reported in the “Tome for the Ages”, Doomerism and “Me first” Baby Boomers.

I do believe the results of the baby boom, as a sociologically identified demographic happening, is a whole larger than the sum of its parts: population added up. But not in a positive promising beautiful aesthetic manner, psychologically or societally. Rather, the results are more negative for future generations than ought to be the case. I thought we were to make the world a better place—to leave things better than we found them, not to steal from the future and give to the present adults in charge. A polycrisis indicates this isn’t happening.

I wrote Doomerism, because I want us to reverse it, to turn it around. I wrote the book to tell how we might begin to see our culture as something sickened, but which we can remedy. I include theories on how we need to transfer authority to the young for the Leadership, Administration, and Management of the Business (LAMBS) of American Society.

However, marketing the book for its intellectuality, and academic propositions for more scholarship, wasn’t advised. Yet, the theoretical offerings, and practical tools shared, were more of its purpose. We must put into practice its recommendations as a People.

We must cure #BabyDoomerism within our society. Ignore that which might be misconstrued as feeling like blame, and read the book for what’s inside. Read the remedy offered in it. Put its theories and tools to work. Change our societal praxis to put us back on the good navigational path to establishing a more perfect union. Help us survive #BabyDoomerism culture.

We can heal the illness of our nation. We can reverse the symptoms and cure the Baby Doomerism from which we suffer.

We will better the social contract. We must. This is our duty to our parents and our children. Join me. Read my book.
